Hilary Duff 全名 Hilary Ann Duff, 1987年9月28日出生于 Houston, Texas. 她很小就开始参加演出，出演了不少电视剧、电影，使她名声远扬的是2001年1月起在迪斯尼电视台开播的电视剧 Lizzie McGuire, 该剧获得了巨大的成功，在2002和2003年连续两年被评选为最受欢迎的电视连续剧（Favorite Television Series），之后又拍摄了电影版 The Lizzie McGuire Movie 。

《重庆森林》和《阿甘正传》是我非常喜欢的两部电影，这两部电影于我来说，属于每隔一段时间需要拿出来重新“复习”一下的那种。巧合的是，我格外喜欢的一首歌曲 California Dreaming 在这两部电影中都有出席，《重》片中是王菲把音量开到最大的小卖店 background music，《阿》片中则是珍妮在台上用心歌唱。
我从网路上搜集了一些有关 California Dreaming 的创作乐队－－The Mamas and the Papas－－的资料。
这首歌曲来自美国的一支民歌摇滚乐队－－The Mamas and the Papas（爸爸妈妈乐队）。乐队由两男两女组成。而歌曲亦是来自专辑《If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears》,这是他们的第一张专辑，当然当时一炮走红了。其中两首单曲California Dreaming、Monday, Monday至今仍是让人赞口不绝的灼热单曲。而他们的乐队成员的命运也跟他们的歌曲一般，充满了宿命和离奇。乐队灵魂人物约翰.菲力普斯原是一支名叫 “行者”乐队的成员，在一次旧金山的演出中认识了一个只有16岁的漂亮姑娘米切尔。两人不顾一切走在了一起（菲力普斯已经有家庭并且有了两个孩子）。 1964年，“行者”的解散促使菲力普斯决心组建新的乐队。就有了加拿大歌手丹尼.道厄提和并无多少音乐才能的妻子米切尔的加入。但是刚开始他们三人的发展并不成功。于是在一天穷极无聊之时，米切尔闭着双眼拿着小标箭随手叉在旋转的地球仪上。那被指的是一个位于中北美洲的名叫圣托马斯的小岛。于是三人立即动身前往那里。
可是在岛上三人还是没有任何特别的创作灵感。就在这时道厄提的朋友女歌手凯丝.埃利亚特来到了他们中。凯丝暗恋着道厄提，可道厄提装着没看见和米切尔保持着暧昧，而看在眼里的菲力普斯也是把一切强忍在心。四人一起在岛上的生活充满了自由自在和矛盾。终于他们决定回到纽约，并且决定前往加洲美国的西海岸发展。在前行前夕，菲力普斯突发奇想创作了这首California Dreaming。到加洲后不久他们顺利地录制了专辑《If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears》，随专辑的大获成功他们的矛盾也日益严重，终于在三年后乐队解散，菲力普斯和米切尔的关系也走到了尽头。米切尔投奔了“飞鸟乐队”歌手吉因.克拉克的怀抱。失意中，菲力普斯开始求救于毒品的暂时麻疲，而道厄提则陷入了酒精的泥潭。而当初那个暗恋道厄提的妈妈凯丝（因其性格豪爽被人取名妈妈凯丝）此刻开始疯狂做爱甚至生下一个不知到父亲是谁的女孩。乐队此刻也是陷入了旧时光一去不复返的境地。六年后凯丝死于心脏病，此刻菲力普斯和道厄提终于决定重组“爸爸妈妈乐队”，可是他们再也无法重现当年的辉煌了。
